Need help with products here! Should I use Clarins or Declo茅r?

So I am thinking about whether to use Clarins or Declo茅r on my skin. I have normal to combination skin (I usually gets spots on my forehead, under nose and chin, nothing very noticeable though). I have been looking at Clarins products for combo skin and I was thinking should I get their cleanser and toner and hydra matter lotion (moisturiser)?

I have used Clarins before but for normal to dry skin. It was very good but I still get the odd spots on my chin. Now onto Decloer. I have used their mousse demaqullant stuff that you wash off and I found that really nice and refreshing for my skin. But I am scared that scrubs and foaming cleansers are going to give me more spots. Its brightened my complexion well and I am not sure about purchasing this. Would it give spots to combo skin? I have always used cream cleansers so I'm not sure if foaming ones will be any better. I have found some cleansers + toners for decloer as well. The cleanser looks amazing!

Decleor are a more natural brand. Not completely but still, it's less chemicals than you would get from Clarins.


I've used Clarins face creams %26amp; have found my skin breaks out due to these.


I use Decleor stuff %26amp; I love this! Never ever have had a break out from his. (I have clear skin anyway).

I like both but if you go to the Clarins counter in a store you can often get some samples. You may be able to do the same with Decleor too. Some Clarins counters do facials and then you can try the products and ask for samples. Both ranges are quite expensive so you want to make the right decision for you. I love foaming cleansers as they make my prone to spots skin feel fresher.
CLarins products are much better especially if you have sensitive skin. Why dont you go to both stores and get samples and see which works better for you

it comes in a pot and is called creme delicieuse auto bronzante.


it is meant for face and body. except. i dont know how to use it. and also.

I agree, stop using it. Clarins makes primarily expensively packaged and fragranced products that DO NOT work any better than drugstore products. Clarins is very much a ';vanity brand'; as far as skincare goes.
stop using it. go back to your normal face wash. get something that it fragrance free and hypoallergnic that way it wont irritate your skin even more
well its obviously the face wash that is drying your skin out so i suggest to not use it anymore. you should try a moisturizing fashwace or a cream cleanser like neutrogena crem cleanser. I use it and it works really well. My face doesnt dry out from it but it keeps me from breaking out a lot. so if you stop using that face wash your skin will probably become less dry.

dermalogica is better and worth the extra money. go to your beauty salon that uses dermalogica products and ask for a skin assesment. you should always heve your skin analysed by a professional befor switching products. they will tell you what works for your skin type and reccomend products to help you improove the condition of your skin. if you experience a few problems with your skin after you begin using an new product, stick with it. it just takes a little while for your skin to become used to it.Tinted Moisturiser? most of the product are good for all skin types. If you want to stay glowing just make sure to exfoliate often.
I find their skincare range is good but i would not recommend their make-up range, too limited.

could you say what you mean by bad skin depends on what you mean clarins tends to be good for dry or mature skins.





ok if you have spots and dry skin i wouldnt say its dry id say dehydrated, drink loads of water and use products which have a oil in water formula not water in oil. this means that the product will be mostly formulated from water which will hydrate the skin without effecting the spots or worsening them. also dont use a harsh cleanser that strips the skin alcohol free or organic would probably be better. you can get hydrating gels. dont use creams as they would probably be too heavy and would contain far too much oil! also dont exfoliate too much has this moves the bacteria from the spots around the skin and instead use a mask once a week as an exfoliating treatment. hope that helps.


clarins may be a bit harsh but i know of a company called face boutique which is relatively simple and organic which shouldnt cause too much complications. the cleanser costs 12quid for a 300ml bottler and 10 quid for a hydrating gel!








lol id still say go for something simple you only really need anti aging if your skins showing signs of it! but i still wouldnt say go for clarins! and if you do want something anti aging thrown in i would suggest a serum as its light and wont affect the spots!

LUSHs skin care products are amazing and you will see results without them containing harsh chemicals and alcohol which would make your skin worse. If you go to a LUSH shop and ask about different skin care, they will advise you on which products would suit your skin type, and they aren't at all expensive.
Clarins is an extremely good product, do speak to a consultant by explaining your 'bad skin' is it that you get rashes or? If you are susceptible to getting skin problems through make up then Innoxa is much cheaper than Clarins but it is a very pure product which does not irritate my skin, but then Clarins doesn't either, just compare and pick the one most suited to your budget to enable you to keep up a good skin care regime.

Philosophy!!! This the best product I have ever used and I am pretty picky what I use on my face. I have used Body Shop products too -- those work well, but for some reason I just see more results with Philosophy products.

The only product that I can actually say that works is the MAry Kay brand. Its a little expensive but the product should last up to 5 months. You'll struggle but you can try Per Scent and AM Cosmetics or H%26amp;B Supplies (they all sell clarins but limited items). I used to get cosmetics/skincare from all of these but if you're thinking of Ebay, forget it. Prices on there are lower than wholesale price which makes me think most of it is fake but people seem happy to buy it, leaving the genuine stuff unsold!

I have super sensative eyes - I only use Mary Kay or Baby Oil. They work great and the Mary Kay lasts a long time.
I wear contacts and I use baby oil with aloe vera. It's about $2 a bottle and lasts along time. Buy cotton pads (also about $2) apply a little baby oil to the cotton pad and swipe over eye. Repeat until eye makeup is gone. Then wash face with regular wash. I promise this will work just as well, if not better than the professional eye makeup removers. If it is sensitive enough for a baby, I think it will be okay for your eyes.

I like oil of olay's cream eye makeup remover. I find the creams to be the most gentle, than the oil or the liquid ones like Garnier..





I wear waterproof mascara, so it tends to be hard to take off. If you soak a cotton pad with the remover, place it on your eye for 10 seconds, then gently rub, it'll be more effective than rubbing right away without letting the product soak in.

They have a compact foundation powder but not a loose/shaker-top foundation powder. It can be applied with a sponge or can be brushed on. Go this route if you are intent on Clarins products - they use top-notch ingredients and are known for being environmentally responsible.

There are two purfumes which contain alcohol, these are called Par Amour, and Par Amour Toujour. These two fragrances are for women only.





The other two fragrances are alcohol free are are called Eau Dynamisante, and Eau Resasounce. These are great to use in the summer because they dont contain alcohol and wont burn your skin. These two are also unisex.





If you want to try out these fragrances, they do supply samples you can take away and try, if they have none in stock then they will have testers that you can spray and try out on their tester stand.





Thanks for the email...Dynamisante is more of a manly smell i personally think. The Par Amour is a very Seductive, grown up smell which is very sophisticated. The Par Amour Toujour is very childlike and reminds me of the kids barbie perfumes, this contains rose extract and is quite sweet. The other, Resasaunce is a very light smell, very fresh and clean.





I suspect if its the Clarins perfume which is on the card it will be the Par Amour or the Eau Resasaunce... pop in and try it on a card or on your skin. Fragrances smell differently on the skin and each individual.

I worked for Clarins and they are at the top in France. I prefer them dramatically compared to nivea or l'oreal - I was never into their makeup but skin care, yea definitely a real dream to use.

I like bits from each, Clinique's moisturisers are fab, while Clarins cleansers work better for me and Beauty Flash Balm is amazing. Its all about your skin and what you like. Mix and match the products and you will find the products that work best for you.

It would depend on your skin type and the products you're planning to buy. Clarins and Clinique are both good brands. I like the moisturizer of Clinique, it's the only one that doesn't clog my pores. I also like their foundations, but I don't like their face powder. Clarins is also very effective --- my skin improved when I used it.





I'd also say that Clinique is good for very sensitive skin. My mother has used Clinique for a long time, and when she tried Clarins she got allergies. The dermatologist told her to go back to using Clinique.

I love Clarins skin care but dont rate their makeup at all, would always buy Clinique make up. But received a moisturiser and eye cream in a recent gift from Clinique and i am very impressed so i think i might buy the moisturiser when i run out of Clarins. It really is down to what suits your own skin. Why dont you go to both counters and explain exactly what you are looking for and you should end up loaded with free samples and try them for yourself.

However! I do have friends who swear by the three step routine. If you go to a Clinique counter ask them for a sample of the three step routine. Try it out and see how you go, you might like it!

Just lately the clarins foundation i have been using leaves my skin feeling really tight like when you have washed your face in soap, i use a good moisturizer prior to application.

The pH of your skin changes frequently due to many factors - diet, fluid intake, vitamin D (natural light), weather, heat, cold, humidity.





A reaction can occur at any point - you may have been using the product for 10 years and a reaction occured. Its just a combination of factors that have changed your skin.





Use a good moisturiser - I swear by dermalogica. Not available in shops, only online from the dermalogica website. Its pricy, but it caters to your exact needs.

No its not normal. The point to any foundation is to give a good natural feel, not to make the skin feel so tight. There are two possibilities:


Your either applying too much of the product


OR


It isn't the right one for you.


I would recommend that you start to use the True Match Mineral Range from L'oreal. It give your skin a flawless natural look and leaves the skin feeling smooth and definitely not tight!

I have try neither. But i tried Chanel shine free powder, it works well on me (i have a very oily skin).
Both are nice just get oil-free foundation :) I know I have oily skin too, oh and make sure it is shine free :)
Lancome's Photogenic foundation is awesome!!! I have oily skin as well and this foundation works great for me.. The coverage is really good and I love the way the foundations ';slides'; on to my skin... You should definately give it a try! =)
Not sure which one is better, Ive never used them but I have extreamly oily skin and I use Estee Lauder Double Wear, stay in place make-up and it works great.

there is nothing special with brand name products. The only difference is their packaging.


Face wash : Look for face cleanser that is non-comedogenic, alcohol and soap free and lanolin free. Therse kind of face cleansers are th best ones. If u cannot find anything like this then go for the ones that says dermatologist recommended. U can find these kind of face wash in all different skin types ( for u its acne prone skin).


For cream use clean and clear. Usually recommend gel based creams.

yes clarins is much better then estee lauder, estee lauder is known simply for the name and not so much for the Performance of the products. Clarins is a natural line and actually works. I have worked in cosmetics for 4 years and between the 2 clarins is the much better way to go.

NO...but it will smooth out appearance of cellulite if used as directed every day. Loreal has a cheaper day and night product and Neutrogena use to have a produt that works well but have to use twice per day a continuous to keep up the results.....look for amonophilline or caffeine in the ingrediants....basically it stimulates circulation to the area of cellulite and smooths out the appearance....running and doing lots and lots of lunges and leg work helps in conjunction with the creams and a tan can help hide cellulite as well. I would check on that color if I were you. The number 7 is usually lighter than number 8. The best way to check is to go to the Clarins color and ask for a sample of the number 8 and take it home to compare, or take yours to the counter and compare there.

Honestly, from my experience Clarins didn't really work. It actually damaged my skin and made it very dry. A couple of my girlfriends tried it as well and the same happened to them. But I guess it depends on the different types of skin...Try it and see what happens for you, if your skin gets dry then just switch to your old product... =)

I've been using Clarins since I was a teenager %26amp; my skin is in great condition in comparison to other people my age (or so I've been told!). I am a ';outdoors'; person which puts extra strain on the skin, but the Clarins products keep my skin protected!





One nice thing is that Clarins gives out great samples so that you can try it before buying anything!





BTW- their products are all natural extracts and they do NOT animal test!!!! Clinique DOES test on animals.

I will always suggest a professional skin care product line rather than a retail or Over The Counter line. Your Esthetician will be able to properly suggest which products will work best on your skin and which will enhance it.
I would recommend a Dermalogica facial, that way they sit down with you and ask about your lifestyle and are able to come up with products that will be perfectly suited to you, rather than just someone in a shop picking something out. Plus, it's a nice treat!

Try 3 drops of frankincense essential oil in 20mls of pure almond oil rubbed onto the marks morning and night time. It works wonders!





However - If you are breast feeding, please check that frankincense is safe to use, I've never needed to know that.

I have tried them all, and most of their products, being the make-up obsessive that I am!


They all have their good points and bad points. For packaging, It has to be Dior. They often have the most stylish looking products, and work brilliantly too.


I love lancome for their maquicomplet concealer (THE BEST) and of course, the good 'ol juicy tubes!


Estee Lauder has gone down a bit in my estimation. I think they have started to target middle aged women mainly. Although they do some brilliant eyeshadows.


Clarins has just done the opposite, and become cool to younger people again. They've really made efforts to ';funk-up'; their packaging. And it does work!


Clinique has always been a bit bland in my opinion. They do brill cosmetics for people with sensitive skin though, and their face creams are brilliant.


Aren't you forgetting Benefit though?? My absolute fave, by a long shot. All their products work really well. Some a little TOO well. Lol. And their packaging is simply divine. really retro and cool.


There are a few other great premium brands that you also haven't mentioned.

As a cosmetology school grad and make-up artist/ skin care specialist with 20 years experience who has worked for many of those brands, I would say it depends on which product you want to compare and what your definition of ';best'; is.





Every line of cosmetics usually has one product they make that is head and shoulders above the rest and the rest is all pretty comparable. Some have better packaging, some last longer wear-wise and some physically last longer, some are a better value, etc.





Estee Lauder is (I believe) still the number one company and they have loads of $$$ to do the research and marketing (great company to work for, they also own the large majority of dept. store brands like Bobbi Brown, Stila, MAC, Clinique, Prescriptives and more) Clinique has some products that are OK , but I would NEVER use their skin care (okay, I worked across from their counter for YEARS and if you compare the skin of most of their customers to the Lauder customers....no comparison).





I currently work at home with Arbonne. I find their products to be very comparable in quality to Estee and the other top Dept. Store brands and in my opinion they are the BEST because the ingredients are more natural (no fragrance, no harsh chemicals, no mineral oil, no animal products) and the $$$ that is made goes to the consultants instead of the models, photographers, marketing dept. and so on.

I'm not a bug fan of Clarins. When you try out a product, if you see a dramatic difference on your skin, then you consider it to be good. Me and few of my friends tried Clarins, no suprise! You're not limited to men's line. The only differences between men's line and regular is their price, gentleness, oiliness, and scent. Men's skin tends to be more sensitive than women because of shaving on a regular basis, which is a lot of shredding of skin. Men's skin are tend to be more oily than women, however, if you're starting to see wrinkle, that's because you're again (i hate this word!!!) and your skin doesn't produce as much oil as you use to thus it's dry and wrinkle appears!

i recommend dove as well. it truly is great! I have blonde hair and fair skin, but bought the tanning lotion for darker skin. i was great, and you build up the tan quicker than with the light one.it never streaks, the trick is making sure you rub it in really well. happy tanning.

I have, however, tried the blush and all i can say is that it is EXCELLENT, its my new favorite thing actually, so im quite sure that the foundation is pretty good. Doesn`t make my skin oily, shiny, break out, or anything like that. I`d say its pretty good and wont make your face oily or shiny either. Just make sure you get a tone that matches your skin complexion :)

Clarins do give away testers, in my local boots they have little pots and scoop some of the cream out into it, I've tried it on my hand and walked around for the rest of the day with a fine smooth looking right hand! I would recommend asking for a tester though...and then if you like it go to kelko.co.uk and see if you can find it cheaper! Unless you want your boots points. Sneaky shopper, that's me!

Clarins products are more expensive, although I use different products from them both on a daily basis. I love Clarins' Gentle Exfoliating Refiner, Gentle Foaming Cleanser, Tonic Bath %26amp; Shower Concentrate and One-Step facial Cleanser with Orange Extract. As for Clinique, I use Clarifying Lotion and Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion. Now I feel like having a bath with all the goodies and essential oil surrounded by scented candles.

I would recommend Clarins over Clinque any day!!! I'm a 40yrs young African American female and this is the best product on the market. I have used it for the past 20yrs without any problems at all. I would however suggest u let your mom accompany u to ensure that she gets a consultation for the correct products for her skin type.

I have Huge pores ( I see them with my own bare eyes), oily shine that practically looks like sweat, and break out. I have found that most department stores will offer you freebies for clarins if you buy 2 or more products. If they haven't got anything on display just ask one of the sales assistants what they can offer you if you buy the products you want. They can only say no but I don't think they will. They never have to me.

There are many different levels of training in retail cosmetics. If you are interested in being a regional or national trainer, I would contact Clarins, USA Human Recources department and find out what qualifications are necessary to be a member of the education team. I do not know what other training you have, they may require a bachelors degree in education, maybe even an aesthetics license. Maybe go to your local Clarins counter and ask for the voicemail number or card of the local account executive. They will be able to point you in the right direction and tell you if they have any current openings within their market.

It is funny you just asked this question because i have just bought it after my sister recommended it to me. This is the best self-tanner I have ever used and I've tried a lot of them. It has a gel-like consistency and goes on smoothly. I always moisturize my knees, feet, and elbows to ensure an even tan.





Unlike others I have used it will not turn you orange, it will give you a very natural looking tan without the sun damage. I've only used this on my body but it suggests to use it on your face too.





Another benefit of this product i found is you can get dressed right away without having to worry about this product transferring onto your clothes! I have already gone through several tubes and will keep buying it. I highly, highly recommend this product. Oh just be sure to wash your hands well after applying it.

It sounds like the Clarins products were too strong for your skin. I had the same thing happen when I tried Garnier Pure A range. It takes 6 weeks for your skin to renew its self so you have to wait it out unfortunately.





I use 2 cleansers and 1 exfoliator now; one cleanser is a deep pore wash by Neutrogena which I use most of the time, the other is a mild soap-free cleanser by Simple, which I use if my skin needs a bit more care or is looking too dry. The exfoliator is from Clinique and I use it twice a day. I've found that this is the perfect balance for my skin (and I've been through practically everything out there)

it sounds like you could be allergic, i would stop using toner for a while and use a perfume free cleanser instead and see if it helps.
I know of some facial soap that is really really good for pores and also is a good bet to return your skin back to normal. It's Cuticura MEDICATED soap. I use it all the time and love it. I have trouble finding it in stores so I buy it online. The shipping (USPS standard) is really cheap, and it's only $2 for a big bar of soap. You'll get lots of answers, but trust me on this -- I'm almost positive this would work really good for you. There is just something about this soap.

I use Clarins (Multi-Active day and night creams) and I love them too, but yes, they are really expensive.





The best cheap and simple moisturiser, with no chemicals is E45. They do a lotion as well as the simple cream, which is less greasy.





It's recommended for people with ecsema or other skin conditions as it's non-fragranced and very gentle.





It may also be worth using a very gentle cleanser too. In the winter creamy cleansers which you wipe off with cotton wool are much more gentle than face wash, or ';toner'; style cleansers .





Also, with Christmas coming up, you could always try recommending to your friends/family that they treat you to the Clarins cream as a present...

I think their skincare is decent but nothing amazing. I think their makeup line is above average with good foundations, shadows and lip colors. But the Multi-Touch Blush is excellent! It's a cream to powder that wears well, has great pigment and doesn't leave a sticky finish.

I havent tried that particular one but i use the clarins no2 oil free multi-matte light reflecting foundation teint eclat. Its really good, stays on and gives really good coverage. I've never used their make up but their skin care line is fantastic! There night moisturizer makes you look so fresh faced in the morning and their daily moisturizer makes you glow! Plus, it smells really good. It's a bit too expensive for me these days and I miss it very much!

Yes, it takes a few days to work. I also start using it this time of year so that the first time I wear sandals or capris I don't look like some pale freak. I've tried them. Theyr'e amazing, but not too great for people with oily skin. They provide great moisture for dry skins and they really make you glow!!!!!
It is a great product was skeptical at first , but cleared up most of the imperfections on my skin,,, didn't work as well for my sister who has oily skin but it did a great job on my skin which is sensitive and not oily,, i love this product and i highly recommend it.

I am not sure about Clarins, but I know for a fact that clinique and lancome products are really good. Clinique products are more economical than lancome ones and are really good products.





However every lancome product I have ever tried has been amazing, so much so that I even have a lancome beach bag and lancome slippers. I take that beach bag everywhere and those flip flops have been the best I've ever had. They're skin products are excellent, if you are looking for comfort, in your products and great results, lancome is the way to go. But you don't have to rule out clinique completely, I'm not too crazy about how some of clinique's products smell though.

I was given a Clarins moisuriser as a gift and it really is very nice and effective in keeping my oily skin relatively shine-free but hydrated. I am in need of other facial-care products and was wondering if it is worth the investment as they are so expensive. Or would I be better off with products from Dermalogica or Environ? I have oily but sensitive skin.What are Clarins products like?

I use the All About Eyes from Clinique, and honestly, I don't notice any kind of difference in the appearance of my dark circles. Then again, I have a one-year old running around and a 7-year old drama queen, so I don't think they are going away anytime soon! I like Clinique because it is gel based and very hydrating, which is key - KEEP SKIN HYDRATED!


I have heard nothing but good things about Clarins, though. But I have only used their cleansers.


I am sure you wouldn't have a problem trying them both and returning the one you don't like. I have returned products from both manufacturers, and never had an issue.

I recommend saving your money. Fancy creams do little if anything.





Instead, try these tips;





1) Drink 8 full glasses of water daily to help your skin with elasticity .





2) Try home remedies: white vinegar can help hide these marks.








3) Increase your intake of Omega 3 Fatty Acids. Eat fish 1-2 times a week and maybe take an Evening Primrose Oil supplement.
